5 Free Things To Do This Spring In Bristol

With lighter evenings and the first bits of sunshine starting to appear it's a fantastic time to get out and explore what the city has to offer! From stunning natural scenery to buzzing urban environments - Bristol is not short on things to do. Whether you want a fresh breath of spring air or looking to get more involved in the community, here are 5 events coming up - best bit, they are all free!

1. Hart’s Bakery Spring Market

Fresh home-grown fruit and veg, tasty treats from the bakery and lovely eco-friendly/ homemade goods!  What more could you ask for? If you’re wanting to make healthier choices and be more climate considerate this Independent market in the heart of the city centre really celebrates that, as well as the local community. Come down and discover the ways you can get more involved.

2. Glos Road Central Mayfest

WHEN: Saturday 4th May 2019


Great treat for the Whole Family! The Local shops of Gloucester Road open out into the street in a day of marvellous Food and Drink, Live music from The Golden Lion and community Choirs, and fun-filled activities such as face-painting and Pavement Art.

Starting from the old swimming baths to The Golden Lion join in as Jack the Green procession of musicians and dancers leads us into the Warmer months!

3. Underfall Yard to Clifton Suspension Bridge Guided Walk

WHEN:Wednesday 8th May 2019


Haven't had a chance to explore the city? Now’s your chance! See the best of Bristol from the Historical interest and Engineering feats of the Bristol Floating Harbour to breath-taking views of the Avon Gorge.

This guided walk is perfect to step into Spring and shake out the Winter blues. Gathering at the Underfall Yard Visitor Centre at 1.45pm. This is perfect for dog owners and anyone looking a bit of light exercise.

4. South Glos Food and Drink Festival

WHEN: Saturday 18th May - sunday 19th may 2019

Bit out of town but worth the journey if your wanting to have a bit of fun surrounded by the best food and drink the South West has to offer. Indulge a little in treats both sweet & savoury while the music plays from some great live bands.  

Held on the lawns of the Bristol & Bath Science Park for the whole weekend it's the perfect social kick off of Spring!

5. Festival of Nature 2019  

WHEN: Saturday 1st June 2019 - Sunday 9th June 2019


This is definitely one for the diary! The UK’s biggest nature event is

Coming to Bristol. Major conservation organisations come together in a fantastic Celebration of the Natural World.

Go wild with informative workshops & talks about the nature right in your back garden. Discover what you can do to help conserve vulnerable species and plants in free interactive exhibitions - showcasing some of the best green spaces in the city.
