Exploring Brighton's Best Plant-Based Restaurants

Did you know that the number of people following a plant-based diet is on the rise worldwide? According to recent studies, there has been a significant increase in the number of people adopting vegan and vegetarian lifestyles. In fact, the global vegan food market is expected to reach a whopping $31.4 billion by 2026.

There are so many reasons why someone might adopt this kind of diet too, whether it be due to their love for animals or their desire to lead a healthier and more environmentally-friendly existence.

If you're part of this growing trend, or just looking to try something new, then you're in the right place. Brighton has a thriving vegan and vegetarian food scene, and we've got the inside scoop on the best places to indulge in some delicious plant-based eats.

Since being crowned the ‘most sustainable city in England,’ vegetarians and vegans from all over have been flocking to the coast to find tasty new eats in the area. With this, comes a lot of pressure to find the best ones. So, we have done some digging (by digging, we mean eating…) and found some of our favourite plant-based restaurants in the city.

The Vurger Co

13 Brighton Pl
Brighton
BN1 1HJ

We aren’t ashamed to admit that this is our all-time favourite vegan burger joint. Located in the heart of Brighton, The Vurger Co is a vegan burger place that's sure to satisfy any craving for plant-based burgers. Their menu features a variety of creative burger options, such as the 'MLT', which has a grilled mushroom patty, vegan bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Their burgers are made from natural ingredients and are served with crispy fries on the side. The Vurger Co also offers gluten-free and soy-free options for those with dietary restrictions.

The restaurant's warm and welcoming ambiance is complemented by the kind and accommodating staff, who are more than happy to provide assistance or offer suggestions.

(Word on the street is, even meat-eaters eat here out of choice…)

Purezza

12 St James's St
Kemptown
Brighton
BN2 1RE

In the lively Kemptown neighbourhood, Purezza has gained popularity as being one of the best vegan pizzerias in the area. They take pride in using their own homemade dough and carefully selecting fresh, high-quality ingredients to create each delectable pizza. Their vegan cheese is crafted in-house, and customers can select from an array of toppings, including seitan, tofu, and plant-based meats.

For those with specific dietary needs, Purezza has a solution, as they offer gluten-free and low-carb crust options. This makes it a fantastic spot for a casual get-together with friends, regardless of dietary requirements. Purezza's sleek and modern decor complements their friendly staff who always provide excellent service.

For some delicious and sustainable plant-based seafood, head to The No Catch Co. This vegan fish and chip shop serves up classic British dishes made with vegan fish, such as battered banana blossom and tofu. Their menu also includes vegan burgers, sides, and desserts, all made with fresh and natural ingredients. There is no need to miss out on the nations favourite just because you’ve illuminated fish from your diet – especially when you can catch yourself some plant-based alternatives.

V360

112 Kings Road Arches

As an added bonus, we couldn’t forget V360. This little café located right on the seafront is the best place to get your paws on a vegan Mr Whippy (you read that right). Stroll along the beach with your childhood favourite ice cream, all completely dairy-free. How amazing is that?

Brighton's vegan and vegetarian food scene is thriving and offers a diverse range of delicious and sustainable plant-based options. The restaurants mentioned are some of our favourites. As more people adopt a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, it's heartening to see that there are so many options available to meet their dietary needs and preferences.
