Review

I may be slightly biased as I knew some of the music going into this, but honestly it tied perfectly with each scene, and the music was a strong highlight for me.

If you're a fan of the hit TV series Peaky Blinders, then the musical adaptation is must-see. This production follows the rise and fall of Thomas Shelby and Birmingham’s underworld.

The opening scene paints the picture of the overarching story by presenting strategic gambling and violent confrontations to the viewer. The changing of the scenes made each part of the storyline easy to follow, perhaps if you haven’t even seen Peaky Blinders. The heavy modern music combined with stop-start action keeps you engaged as you follow each scene.

As expected, the majority of the performance includes fighting of some kind, which as the viewer, keeps you gripped as you watch the emotional turmoil. At times, it really does play with your heart strings with some heartfelt lover and family scenes. (No spoilers!)

The production has done an incredible job of including all the key details in an articulated way for easy following and to understand the Shelby family on a deeper level.

You can tell this is a well-thought-out production.

Standout Quote or Moment: My favourite scenes were ‘A Day at The Races’ and ‘New Party In Town’ purely for the incredible stage presence, the props particularly used in the races scene

See If: You want to see a production which differs from the traditional, and keeps you engaged with action.

Last Impression: Unforgettable, and easily the best production I’ve seen.
