Where to visit on World Photo Day in Bristol

Turning a passion into a career seems to be one of the few blessings of lockdown. It gave some of us a chance, despite the absolute tragedy, to pour our time and love into something we had always wanted to try, be it yoga, art, becoming a plant mum, crochet, perfecting baking banana bread… the list goes on.

This is exactly what epic husband and wife team Kate and Andrew did when they quit their jobs and launched f4 Photography Gallery in the midst of lockdown, August 2020. A family run business with a massive emphasis on supporting the local creative community. The gallery is a growing photography hub in Clifton Village, Bristol.

Showcasing a collection of emerging and well-established local photographers, f4 Photography Gallery is a space where you can find prints, canvases, courses, guidance and more! Photographers featured include Carolyn Eaton, Square Eyes, Jess Siggers and more.

There is also an exhibition wall at f4, with the photographers featured changing every few months, making it a great stop to add to your Sunday stroll.

As it is World Photo Day, we thought it best to give you wonderfully creative City Girls a heads up of where to visit for your photography inspiration in Bristol, and where to transform your spark of interest into a blazing passion for photography. It's time to start your photography journey if you haven’t already. If you were looking for a sign, this might just be it.

The courses available at f4 Photography Gallery are awesome and cover a range of budgets as well. Options include an ‘Introduction to Photography’, ‘Night Photography’, ‘One to One DSLR Courses’, ‘Post Processing Skills’ and more!

Feeling inspired? You can also check out these awesome online courses on SkillShare covering everything from how to achieve that dream instagram shot, to how to set up your own product shoot for those of you with your own independent business…

If you’re not quite ready to commit to a course, and books are your thing, F4 recommends books by Ansel Adams such as 400 Photographs, which has inspired many of the pieces inside the gallery.

Whether you are looking for a gift, creative inspiration, or something to make your new uni flat more of a home, this is the place. As always, just remember to spread the love by supporting your local creatives and independent businesses.
