About Catherine Stone Acupuncture and Massage
I’m an acupuncturist, massage therapist and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) therapist. A member of the British Acupuncture Council and MLD UK, I practise traditional, sports/orthopaedic, pregnancy and Five Elements acupuncture. I love how Chinese Medicine has a great understanding of the mind-body connection, and treating each person’s individual constitution can be very effective at getting to the root cause of any presenting complaints. An acupuncture session involves a thorough consultation at the first session, and continuing homecare advice to help you in your recovery process or lifestyle. I enjoy continual learning, and am regularly adding to my ‘toolbox’, to enhance my practice. Additional techniques used in treatments where appropriate are cupping and gua sha, which help stimulate circulation, simply speaking, and moxibustion – the use of a herb to warm particular areas or points, for various clinical effects. Tui na (Chinese massage) and/or other massage techniques can also be included, to enhance the treatment.
I have been practising massage since 2011, and I do sports/remedial massage, myofascial release, Thai massage, pregnancy massage and manual lymphatic drainage. These various techniques can assist with musculoskeletal tension, postural issues, chronic pain, etc. MLD is a very gentle therapy that is good for decongesting/detoxing, water retention, post-operative or post-injury recovery, skin complexion, potentially chronic pain and relaxation.
You can mix sessions with me so that you can have an extended acupuncture session with massage, or a massage session with cupping. Treatment packages are also available.
