Women accessing this support service have a range of options in how to contact and interact with this service. Edinwomanaid can offer support and information on different choices concerning domestic abuse, housing options, benefits, welfare rights and legal issues in addition to emotional support.

What is available:

  • Drop-in service and phone Support -this can be accessed on an ongoing basis or as a one-off

  • Outreach Support -women have the option to be met within the community in locations suitable to them

  • Refuge -safe temporary accommodation available for women and any accompanying children

  • 24 Hour Refuge -offering additional support to women who have a range of needs

  • Group Programmes -providing peer support and an opportunity to build trust, enhance collaboration, and to promote recovery and healing

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre was first established in 1978 and in the last 40 years has offered emotional and practical support, information and advocacy to thousands of survivors of sexual violence. This centre is a specialist agency providing support to women in Edinburgh and the Lothians, this includes an outreach support service in East and Midlothian.

The centre is entirely staffed by self-identifying female workers who are trained to the highest standard and of a shared view that gender-based violence is an abuse fo power and should not exist. If English is not your first language or if you are deaf there are available interpreters.
