We provide free menstrual products to anyone who needs them through distribution centres across Bristol
Period poverty is a lack of access to menstrual products, education, hygiene facilities, or a combination of these, for reasons of cost. Bristol has the third highest rate of period poverty in the UK: statistics show that more than two in five women/girls in Bristol (41.2%) have been affected by an inability to afford menstrual products, this is significantly more than the national average of 27% and rising due to rising costs.
The Period Friendly Places scheme addresses this by providing free menstrual products to anyone who needs them, making them available through distribution centres such as community centres, medical centres, libraries and religious centres. We are working with corporate partners and volunteers, foodbanks and other charities to obtain and deliver products.
Grateful for whatever products people can spare to supplement our donations, we are aiming to purchase sustainable products as our charity expands. We also recognise the importance of education; pupils are made aware of us and access of products at locations via our online map, and we will be providing presentations/ talks in the near future.
You can help our campaign by donating products, financial support or volunteering time, to help us reach out to Bristol and beyond.
