Apps Helping Me Through Lockdown
Apps…there’s literally thousands of them out there. It’s often hard to know where to start when you’re looking for something specific to your needs and wants. And during the current coronavirus lockdown, we need certain apps more than ever to help boost our mental wellbeing, increase our productivity, and assist with our daily routines.
Here’s a few recommendations from me to you, download and give them a go while the COVID-19 lockdown lasts.
HEADSPACE
Guided meditation and mindfulness. With tonnes of different sessions, from 5-minute basic meditations, to those on specific topics such as healthy body image and anxiety, there’s something for everyone. You can sign up for free to their 10-day beginners’ course to get you started, and then if you enjoy it sign up to the paid version to unlock more courses.
THE HAPPINESS PLANNER
A digital version of the popular Happiness Planner books, this app is seriously good for planning out your day, setting goals, bucket lists, reading uplifting quotes, and even setting your happiness roadmap. The basic version is completely free, and it gives you your own little platform to boost your self-development and mental wellbeing.
CALM
Similar to the Headspace app, Calm is perfect for helping to reduce stress and anxiety, with guidance and stories for better sleep and general meditation sessions. Zone out and listen to sounds of scenes such as serene lakes, rushing waterfalls, raindrops, and crackling fires. You can get the basic version for free, and pay to upgrade to unlock lots of extra content.
REFLECTLY
A daily self-journal app, it’s super simple to use and is the ideal way to get your thoughts and feelings down on virtual paper. You select how you’ve felt during the day, what’s made your day good, and you can even give your journals story titles to create a theme. The basic version is free, and you can pay for premium which unlocks extra capabilities.
DOWN DOG
In case you hadn’t guessed – this one’s for yoga! Yoga is perfect for relaxing your mind and muscles, whether you want to focus on a certain area of your body or just generally stretch and meditate. You can select your type of session, what level you are, and how long you want the session to last. And as a lockdown special, the app is completely free until May.
