Monday

On Mondays you can go to the Railway Inn, Station Road in Portslade. The weekly pub quiz starts at 8pm and ends around 10:15pm. The atmosphere is relaxed but banterous with varied rounds. Entry is £3 and they have huge cash prizes on offer. This personal favourite is a spacious pub with a host of indoor and outdoor seating. You can also book tables but only up until 6pm, alternatively reservations can be made at the bar or by telephone. They have a range of homemade gelato flavours and offer Tapas Monday where you can get 3 dishes for £15 all day long.

For a more central option you can go to the White Rabbit, Kensington Gardens in the Lanes. Quizzy with Izzy starts at 7:30pm every Monday. Entry is £2 and there are 8 prizes to be won each time. This is another favourite of mine, and not just because we share the same name! You can specifically book tables for the quiz on their website. But if not, this smaller venue is in popular demand so I recommend getting their early to secure the best seats. Then you will also get there in time for Happy Hour that is offered between 5-8pm, and loads of great food options. Teams of 1-8 are permitted so gather your friends today!

Tuesday

On Tuesdays you have Quiz Actually at the Lewes Road Inn, on Lewes Road. This is hosted weekly from 8pm. This spacious student hotspot is made for people wanting to do a humorous quiz. Entry is £3 and all money is returned in prizes, winners are considered those who come in first, second, third, and second to last place. Table reservations are encouraged and must be made via their phone number. There is no limit to team sizes but to be fair to smaller teams, teams with more than 6 players will have 2 points retracted from their final score per every player above 6.

Another student favoruite is at the Student Union bar: The Venue, Lewes Road in Moulscoomb. This weekly quiz begins at 7pm and ends around 10pm. They promote fun rounds and prizes for first, second and third place. With Two for Tuesday drink deals you can get a range of pints, ciders, and shots there is something for everyone.

Tuesday is the night for students with all our contenders being in the Moulscoomb to Lewes Road area. Martha Gunn on Upper Lewes Road hosts weekly quiz nights every Tuesday at 8pm. For only £2.50 per person, this smaller venue gets packed. Be sure to call up and reserve your table in advance.

Wednesday

Every Wednesday at 8pm, The Mucky Duck on Manchester Street in Kemptown holds Quiz Face. With £2 entry and the chance of a £1000 jackpot, it’s hard to beat. The questions are said to be whacky and fun with a perfect difficulty level. Once again booking must be made by phone call to secure a spot. This pub also serves delicious Thai dishes that can be grabbed until 9pm, so don’t miss out.

Thursday

Every Thusrday at 8pm, Let’s get Quizzical is held at The Fitz Regent, in Castle Square. It’s £2.50 entry and strictly over 18’s, with a £50 cash prize up for grabs. You can book the quiz specifically on their website, but walk-ins are welcome provided there is space. They also offer 2 for 1 on all their pizzas, so you can grab a drink and a bite whilst answering the range of rounds: music, mystery voice, missing vowels, and many picture questions.

Friday and Saturday are clearly reserved for other kinds of fun as there are no pub quizzes on these nights.

Sunday

Finally, to end your week you can head down to The Bear Inn on Lewes Road, where the Bear Quiz is held from 7:30pm. This cozy pub specialise in brain-teasing questions, allow for teams up to 7 but encourage solo-quizzers or couples too. For just £1 entry you can join the fun and grab free pizza, whilst it lasts! The night ends with a chaotic round of Jukebox Bingo at £1 a ticket.

Whilst there may be many more quiz nights around, it can be hard to keep track. We hope this helps you find your groove, and that you love these venues as much as we do.
