Experience Review: Cabaret, Big, Stupid, Queer Comedy Quiz, Wales Millennium Centre
No stranger to the Cardiff and Welsh performance art enthusiasts, the new Cabaret addition to Wales Millennium Centre offers an even bigger array of shows to bop along too. With the season well under way, we were delighted to be invited along to this sold out evening.

Bonus points: The ticket included a raffle ticket for each participant with the option to buy more – not only did this mean really fun and fabulous prizes for many, it also raised a good sum for charity whilst supporting local businesses!
Perfect for: A family day out or your next quiz with your mates, we even had the hosts’ family in the crowd!
The Location
If you have read our previous reviews, you know we are big fans of the location and the venue. We were incredibly grateful for the central and accessible location of Wales Millennium Centre as we made our way to various parts of Cardiff just as heavens to opened up to conclude an otherwise crisp, autumnal day! The Cabaret space is located at the rear of the building – if you were here this weekend, this was further marked by vendors and celebrations ongoing through the building for Diwali!
Safety & Accessibility
Similarly, we remain ever impressed by the facilities at the venue.
There is step free access throughout the bar, with inclusive toilets to one end. The centre itself is open longer with accessible facilities should these be required as well.
We are delighted by the continued financial accessibility options offered by WMC.
The Experience
Our return to Cabaret was a contrast to our weekend night of Cardiff’s newest and hottest Drag Kings. We joined Linus and Joseph on a sunny, breezy Sunday afternoon that had us in stitches which we are coming to associate with our time in the space!
Before kicking things off, Linus (with his fabulous Princess Diana hair and nails) went around ominously but reassuringly collecting a name per team for a top secret audience participation moment in the quiz. A first in a quiz!
As we get into the quiz, all questions and options were supported by a slide deck which was very refreshing and accessible, there were no repeating the questions required. From ‘Celebrity Stenches’ to ‘Bullseye’, each round was creatively named and even more hilariously delivered! I remain intrigued and scared of delving into the show Bullseye and not only because of my own terrible hand at darts..
The lovely bar staff kept us hydrated and fed from the start and throughout the evening with table service once the show commenced – the salted caramel popcorn being a hit across the team. As we scratched and giggled out way through rounds, we were treated to a crossover of ‘Guess The Song’ and ‘Charades’ played out using brooms featuring special guest Linda (my favourite, sorry boys!), a hula hoop competition, an impromptu fashion show and last but certainly not least, auditions for the new ‘This Morning’ presenter.
We rounded out the night with a round of raffles and prizes that was so entertaining that we nearly forgot the quiz winners would be getting picked just after! Truly impressed by the variety, creativity and value of the prizes and how incredibly thoughtful it was of the hosts to not only deliver an amazing show for their audience but support amazing organisations both locally and globally.
We are really looking forward to Linus and Joseph (and parents!) return to Cabaret. In the meantime, if you happen to be London bound during the festive period, check them out in Gwneth Goes Skiing at The Pleasance!
