December Events For Every Brighton Girl

Finally, it’s time to begin the festive season! December is here and there are lots of Brighton events that will get you excited for Christmas or warm your toes in this cold sparkly month. 

Wizard of Oz Ballet at Brighton Dome

If you are a lover of ballet and are looking for a reasonably priced treat for you and your friends, this is the perfect choice. Ballet Theatre UK is performing the iconic Wizard of Oz from the 28th of December to the 29th of December and it's not one to miss! A great evening out or an unforgettable Christmas gift, starting at £12 per person its the perfect treat after Christmas to keep the celebrations going.

Burning of the clocks 

This is an annual event which is not one to be missed and it’s free! On the 21st of December join the lantern parade through the center of Brighton which leads down to the seafront for a bonfire and fireworks. Be even more involved and make a paper lantern which can then be thrown on the bonfire at the end to celebrate the end of the year. This Brighton tradition which started in 1993 is known by most Brightonians and is a wholesome community event. 

Ice Skating

The ice rink is back at the Brighton Pavilion! A fun activity that will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit. With beautiful lights and music playing it is the perfect evening out, there’s a cosy bar and restaurant beside the rink where you can snuggle up with a hot chocolate and watch fellow ice skaters. Sessions are one hour long and the rink is open from 10 in the morning to 10:15 at night.

Learn how to create Vegan and Vegetarian Christmas Canapes! 

Looking for a creative fun event to do this December, why not put your hand to some creative baking! At Brighton and Hove Food partnership school, learn how to make cute vegan or vegetarian party canapes perfect for this festive season. A creative festive event which is a great way of meeting people in Brighton or bring along a group of friends and refine your baking skills whilst creating some delicious canapes. Starting at 6 pm on the 5th of December for one night only!

Immersive Dining experience

Are you a fan of food, theatre and Christmas then this is the event for you! An immersive dining experience of A Christmas Carol. Sit and enjoy a two-course Christmas dinner while you sing festive songs, play games and watch a rendition of A Christmas Carol. Running throughout December tickets can be found online.

Christmas Concert

On Sunday the 8th of December, the Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing a Christmas Concert in the Dome. Joined by Brighton youth choir they will be performing Christmas carols and will definitely get any humbug in the mood for Christmas. Tickets start at £12.00 per person.

The Santa Dash

The annual Santa Dash is a great classic Brighton Event which is a definite December must. Set beside Hove seafront the 5K run starts at 10:30 am, you get a Santa suit and a medal for taking part! This is a great event to meet locals or other City Girls. All money raised goes to the Rockinghorse Charity, which is dedicated to supporting children in Sussex. 

Priscella Queen of the Desert Musical

Looking for an event which is slightly less Christmas themed then you’re in luck! Priscilla Queen of the Desert has come to Brighton and is here for only 3 weeks. This sparkly show based on the film Priscella is a comedic adventure that is sure to amaze! Tickets start at £13.00 and the opening night is the 17th of December running until the 4th of January. 

Jools Holland at the Brighton Centre

On the 14th of December, the one and only Jools Holland is coming to Brighton! Joined by his rhythm and blues orchestra and other distinguished guests, Jools will host an evening of soul, jazz and blues. If you’re looking for a music-filled night with a selection of prestige musicians this is the event for you. A brilliant treat for any jazz enthusiasts, tickets start at £39.00 per person!
