Review
The perfect nineties-fuelled, hilarious jukebox show bound to get your feet tapping. This show is based on the multi-million-selling iconic pop band, Steps. As a nineties baby, I loved every minute of it and was surprised how much of the lyrics I remembered after so long. In true City Girl Network style this was a celebration of love and friendship and an eye opener to ensuring you have your support network.

It’s a show based on discovering their ‘Summer of Love’. Caz is set on creating the best moments, but a short time after, she realises that the ‘summer of love’ she thought she had coming up wasn’t all that it seemed. Soon come where tragedy follows in the gang with trust, friendship and love, and it’s all about coming back together through the iconic music of Steps.
The show is set in a beautifully energetic supermarket store, Better Best Bargains, and they weren’t kidding when they say it’s a Friday night, the vibe is right and employees are dancing in the aisles, what a dream for reality!?
Caz (Lara Denning), sets the vibe straight immediately with her uplifting energy, ‘it’s going to be the summer of love!’, until the real world kicks in and her group of employees go through love, confusion, betrayal, and to top it off, fighting for their jobs together.
The show is led by Caz(Lara Denning), Vel (Jacqui Dubois), Neeta(Rosie Singha) and Robbie (Blake Patrick Anderson), who help each other through to their much needed ‘Summer of Love’. It’s the perfect girls night, and I was blown away, especially by Singha’s strong vocals and the great friendship and harmony between Denning and Dubois.
If you like shows like Hairspray, and Mamma Mia! This one is for you. A leading representation in the musical industry, with exactly how to get the audience up on their feet and helping them reminisce about the Steps times, who would have helped so many people through tough times with the outstanding lyrics.
