The Location

The bright pink MOXY sign beams over Cabot Circus, which sits almost directly opposite. It’s a 13-minute walk from the trendy streets of Stokes Croft, a 25-minute walk from Harbourside, and an easy 20-minute walk to Bristol Temple Meads.

The Room

I stayed in a ‘Moxy Queen Room’ – a standard offering for one guest. It had a large bed with soft white sheets, with a cosy brown leather cushion to sit on right next to the bed for any late-night working I might have to do. Much like MOXY Milton Keynes, the wall had a mesh organiser, where the hairdryer was hanging in a black bag next to a few coat hangers that were hanging freely on a pole.

Bonus points here go to the placement of the charging points, which included USB-C nestled below the usual UK charging port. And the Smart TV, which not only personally welcomed me as I’d arrived but was perfectly situated to watch in bed when I was winding down from a long day.

The bathroom included a toilet, sink, mirror, and power shower, equipped with shampoo and body wash that my hair particularly loved. Unfortunately, the conditioner had run out in my room, so I didn’t get to try it this time.

The Experience

The check-in experience was easy, fast, and friendly – and the check-out was even quicker. Perhaps the most notable part of MOXY is its dedication to being a community-driven hotel. The downstairs space is surrounded by perfect places to work – think long coworking-style tables, snugs with little tables for a cosier laptop hideout, and relaxing sofa spaces to kick back with a book. There’s also a meeting room and a more focused work space tucked around the corner.

I visited this hotel during the August Heatwave and was very grateful to have an air conditioned meeting space for my planning session with the Bristol Girl and Manchester Girl community managers.

After a night out on Harbourside (a 25-minute walk, or a 6-minute taxi ride), I loved coming back to the buzzing atmosphere of the MOXY. Solo travellers sat around the bar finding solace in each other’s company, groups of friends took over larger tables, and couples sat sipping cocktails as the music played over them. A personal favourite was a goodnight cuddle with a cockapoo who was staying at the hotel – reminding me of my little cavachon that I’d have to leave at home shielding from the heat.
