If you arrive by train to Manchester Piccadilly, the 20 minute walk to the hotel gives you a great sense of the city. The walk takes you from the centre of the city to the iconic Oxford Road Corridor with music venues, theatres, cultural offerings and thriving university campuses.
It’s also a popular hotspot for those travelling for football matches, with the stadiums just a 15 minute drive away.
The Room
We stayed on the 16th floor in a corner apartment at Hyatt House, designed with long stays, friend trips like ours and the luxury city apartment experience.
The apartment consisted of an open plan kitchen and living space with a sofa bed, a bedroom with a king-sized bed, and a bathroom with a bath and high-pressure shower head. Just to top off the already-gorgeous apartment are the floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing panoramic views of the city and the snow-topped peaks in the distance.
The highlights:
Fitted kitchens that were perfect for storing our midnight snacks and Steph’s Diet Cokes. For those who would prefer to eat in, their kitchens are fully equipped with everything you need from a microwave and stovetop to utensils and a dishwasher.
A table-for-four, that’s great for meals and for working – making it an ideal option for business travellers.
Incredible views from your own bed (and sofa bed if you’re using that too), offering a peaceful contrast to the bustling city below.
A perfect water pressure shower head with aromatic smelling shower gels and shampoos
In-room beauty services, like massages to help you wind down in luxurious style, and hair, nail and makeup stylists for special occasions.

The Dining and Bar Experiences
We had the full experience of eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Hyatt Manchester Hotel – with an extra bonus of drinks in The Graduate Bar before our meal at the Laureate Restaurant.
Laureate Restaurant: Dining at The Laureate Restaurant is an experience in itself, offering a sophisticated menu that reflects the diverse culinary influences of Manchester. Located within the Hyatt Regency, the restaurant is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it a bright, airy ambiance by day and an intimate, inviting atmosphere by night. The menu blends international flavours with locally-sourced ingredients, creating dishes that are both comforting and refined. Whether you’re in the mood for hearty classics or lighter fare, the options cater to a variety of tastes.
All-you-can-eat curry experience: We were treated to their all-you-can-eat curry experience, which happens every Thursday evening for £20 per person. The menu has been curated by family recipe’s and culinary heritages of Head Chef Manash and his skilled team.
Pippa’s favourite was a combination of Jarunees One Point Thai Chicken Massaman, a deliciously coconut-fused dahl and what we called “Christmas Tree” Poppadums to keep it festive. Steph’s favourite was the Luftis Indonesian Beef Rendang. A highly-recommended experience for a date night and friend catch up.
Breakfast at The Laureate: Breakfast was an classic mix of continental and cooked breakfast, plus pancakes and on-demand omlettes. A big highlight for Steph was that you can have unlimited access to bacon. Pippa was particularly thrilled with the inclusion of gluten free bread and dairy free butter – a rare commodity to have so freely available.
The Graduate: The Graduate Bar is a trendy open-plan bar with high ceilings and comfy booths. The perfect place for a drink before our meal at The Laureate (a pina colada) and a lovely lunch before we left the next day. We also found the booths to be a perfect work and meeting spot.
Lunch at The Graduate: The Graduate created a buffet spread of their favourite dishes for us to try. This included chicken and cheese queasadillas, onion bajis. steak and pineapple kebabs, a Quinao salad, and sweet potato fries. All of which were the epitome of delicious bistro food, with our plates dominated by refills of steak and pineapple kebabs, sweet potato fries and onion bajis. Pippa has her eye on the cauliflower wings and gluten free pasta for next time too.
