Introducing: The Wellness Budget

Wellness is the multi-faceted practice of optimising your health and wellbeing. It’s yoga, running, facials, nutrition, hiking, country strolls, dog cuddles, meditation, talking therapy, strength training, specialist medical appointments, dancing, massages, retreats, hypnotherapy, sound healing, pilates and a whole load more.

It’s also deeply personal, requires specific knowledge, and costs money. We all know that Wellness can be accessible, but these barriers make it hard to see how.

We’re starting 2025 by tearing those barriers down with our brand new month-long campaign: The Wellness Budget.

Over the last 8 years, we’ve noticed that the majority of women in the City Girl Network pay for wellness activities from a generic disposable income pot. Thus placing practices like therapy in the same category as a new jacket. It’s much harder to justify investing in your health and wellbeing when you’re taking it from the same pot as clothes, trips out and gifts.

Collaborating with our nationwide network of business and community partners, we’re sharing ideas, resources and opportunities to help you craft a personal wellness programme that works for you – financially, emotionally, and practically.

What is a Wellness Budget?

A Wellness Budget is a dedicated portion of your financial plan allocated specifically to activities, resources, and services that support your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. It’s a way of intentionally prioritising your health and happiness, ensuring that wellness becomes a consistent and sustainable part of your life.

Much like you might budget for groceries, bills, or savings, a wellness budget ensures that you actively plan for self-care and personal development. This could include:

  • Fitness: Gym memberships, yoga classes, or home workout equipment.

  • Self-Care: Massages, skincare routines, or wellness retreats.

  • Mental Health: Therapy sessions, meditation apps, or support groups.

  • Nutrition: Healthier food choices, meal prep services, or consultations with a dietitian.

  • Hobbies: Engaging in activities that bring you joy, such as art classes, gardening, or joining a book club.

Do Wellness Budgets Have to Be Expensive?

Not at all! Wellness is personal, and your budget should reflect your unique needs and resources. Whether it’s setting aside £12 for a yoga class, saving across a few months for a massage, or investing £250 a month in a PT-focused gym, it’s all about dedicating a part of your spending to your own health and wellbeing.

Our experts will also be sharing core knowledge on various different wellness practices, plus a range of top tips and money-saving ideas.

The Wellness Budget Campaign is all about making this concept accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, whilst also breaking the taboo around talking about money.

While some wellness practices are completely free and others come with a cost, the key lies in finding what works for you. Together with our partners, we’re excited to be sharing ideas, inspiration and activities to help you craft the perfect Wellness Budget for you.
