Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

UK

I’m sure I’m not the only one who struggles with what to get for Mother’s Day. It seems easy, buying a gift for one of the closest people in your life, but if your mother figure is picky, hates candles and has given up chocolate for lent, then it feels as if all the good options have been crossed out before you’ve even started looking.

With what feels like over a million pages on various gifting websites, finding what to buy can be daunting. So, to help ease the stress, here are some Mother’s Day gift ideas that hopefully most mother figures would love.

Self-Care Gifts

Self-care is in, so obviously our mother figures should get to enjoy it as well. Although self-care can look different for everyone, there are the obvious gifts that most people would love, such as candles, skin-care products, makeup, blankets, mugs, hot water bottles, and the list goes on and on…

Experience Days

If you’re stuck on physical Mother’s Day gift ideas, an experience day can be a good alternative! Experience days can be so much better than physical gifts, considering you don’t need to look online for hours, worry about delivery dates and whether or not she’ll end up liking the gift.

Experience days is such a broad phrase, so whilst it could cover a spa trip at a nice hotel, for you, it could also mean going to a cinema and eating some popcorn.

Voucher For Their Favourite Shop

Buying for someone picky can be a complete nightmare, especially when you want to get something personal. But, at the end of the day, everyone loves a voucher for their favourite shop, and it’s a definite gift that you know will get used. To make it a touch more personal, I always like to get a voucher for a shop that has to be spent on a treat, just to make sure my mother spends the voucher on herself and not the weekly food shop!

Flowers

Flowers might seem like the obvious choice, but they’re a crowd pleaser for a reason. One of the great things about flowers is that they can be really inexpensive depending on which ones you get, and if you’re like me and can never tell which ones the cheap ones are, then all the better. If your mother figure loves gardening, then you can always go the extra step and get a potted plant instead.

Make Your Own

It’s probably very easy to read this and think ‘well I can’t sew, or knit, or crochet’, and that’s completely fine because there are so many other options for DIY gifts! If you can do any of the above, then obviously your inspiration is already there. But if you struggle to get crafty, there are other ways to make your own gift. This can include baking something (cookies are always an easy one), making a photo album or even personalising a phone case.

Food Gifts

Food gifts are personally my go-to gift when I’m unsure on what to get, just because it usually goes down well, and you know it most likely won’t go to waste. Something as simple as chocolates, cakes, nice desserts and anything sweet are gifts that most people love. If you want to get something a bit more special, then you can always order from a baker to get some professionally made and designed sweet treats. If all that fails, a bottle of wine usually works perfectly as well.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully this has helped provide some inspiration for a Mother’s Day gift! And remember, it’s always the thought that counts, whether that ends up being a spa day or a keyring with a picture of you both; as long as it shows you care, then you’ve gotten a good gift 💜💛
