Nourish Bars Review: Gut-Friendly Snacking That Still Feels Like a Treat
There’s a fine line between healthy snacks and indulgent treats, and Nourish Bars have found a pretty convincing way to do both. These better-for-you treats are designed with gut health, blood sugar balance and everyday energy in mind.
The brand was founded by Ineke Nugteren, a former intensive care nurse with experience across healthcare, functional medicine and preventative health. That background gives Nourish a clear sense of purpose. Rather than simply creating another “clean eating” snack, the range feels built around helping people make healthier choices without taking the joy out of food.
Nourish products are gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free, with many also grain-free, plant-based, low-carb and high in fibre. That makes them especially useful for anyone avoiding common ingredients or looking for snacks that feel a little more considered than the usual mid-afternoon chocolate bar.
A Healthy Snack That Still Feels Like a Treat
What stood out to me most was that Nourish does not try too hard to be virtuous. The bars still have texture, sweetness and satisfaction, which is often where healthier snacks fall down.
Coconut is a key ingredient across the brand, giving many of the products a naturally sweet, slightly nostalgic flavour. The wider range includes brownies, chilled dessert bars, coconut bites, macaroons and cookies, all with that same focus on balancing indulgence with more thoughtful ingredients.
But it’s the chilled dessert bars that caught my attention. Mostly due to blurring the line between snack and pudding – as well as being covered in dairy free chocolate. They feel like a smart option for when you want something sweet after lunch or dinner, without reaching for something overly heavy or ultra-processed. It also gives you a great energy boost afterwards.
Why the Nutty Nourish Bar Was My Favourite
Of all the Nourish bars I tried, the nutty one was easily my favourite. It felt properly satisfying without being too sweet, with enough richness to make it feel like a treat rather than a compromise.
It was also the one I kept thinking about afterwards, so much so that I went back out and bought another from the fridge at Kindly of Brighton.
That is probably the best compliment I can give it. Nourish is not just a snack you eat because it ticks the right health boxes. It is one you go back for because you genuinely enjoyed it.
Are Nourish Bars Worth Trying?
Overall, Nourish is a strong choice for anyone looking for gluten-free, dairy-free or refined sugar-free snacks that still feel indulgent. With a focus on gut health, high-fibre ingredients and steadier energy, the range has a clear wellness purpose without losing sight of flavour.
They are still treats, but they are treats with purpose — and the nutty bar, in particular, is one I would happily buy again.
You can buy Nourish Bars from a range of health food shops and online retailers, including Ocado, Whole Foods Market, Planet Organic, Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and Holland & Barrett Marketplace. They are also stocked by a nationwide network of independent retailers, and can be bought directly from them via their website.
