Recipe: Pistachio And Rose Raw Hot Chocolate

Starbucks has a new flavour - Pistachio Rose Mocha - and it's already a hit, with the Hove baristas claiming that they're selling "almost as many of these as they are actual Mocha's". But what if you could take this delicious flavour and add some extra super-food goodness? Emma from Kalula Jewellery and Kalula Yoga has recreated the recipe to do just that.

So yesterday I met up with two fabulous ladies, Pippa from Pippa Says & Louise from Lu'Ami Music.

We discussed some very exciting future projects whilst sipping on Starbucks Coffee - Pistachio Rose Mocha's to be precise.

They were delicious, don't get me wrong. Definitely the best flavour combo Starbucks has ever come up with.

On my walk home, I was thinking of a "good for you" alternative but with the same great taste. After some experimentation, it happened! Absolute heaven in a mug, so fresh, delicious and 100% good for you!

This super-food hot chocolate is full of disease-fighting antioxidants, nut protein, healthy fats, and a big dose of vitamin E - keeping hair, skin & nails glowing.

INGREDIENTS

200g - 250g Bag of Unsalted Pistachio Nuts (Without Shells If Possible)

1 Tablespoon Raw Cacao Powder

3 Drops of Rose Essence

1 Teaspoon Coconut Sugar / 1 Tablespoon of Honey

METHOD

Remove the nuts from their shells if not already loose.

Blend 3/4 of the bag of pistachios with 250ml of water until the liquid becomes white and smooth. I use my Nutribullet for about 10-15 seconds.

Strain the milk through a nut bag, squeezing out all the goodness. You can keep the left over blended nuts & dry them out in the oven to make into cookies / bread or sprinkle over yoghurt.

Gently heat the Milk, Cacao, Rose & Coconut Sugar or Honey in a saucepan until well mixed and starting to simmer.

Take off the heat, pour in a mug, sprinkle with some crushed pistachios & a little cinnamon.

(If you really want, you can add some cream & marshmallows)!

Enjoy!
