Review: Clubbercise Glow Stick Aerobic Work Out Class

Dancing with glowsticks ? Oh yeah. If you’ve never heard of this name before, Clubbercise is an energetic and upbeat dance aerobic workout where the instructors turn off all the lights and hand us out glow sticks. The class took place in a Patcham High school in a large room which reminded me of one of those old ball rooms you see in films!

Here’s a little impression of the work out:

ATMOSPHERE:

I was surprised to find so many people there. We were 36 in all, mostly women and we were given neon glow sticks to hold while moving, how cool! The clubbercise classes are run by personal trainer Rich. I’ve never seen anyone so energetic. It gives you a good happy, positive boost.

LEVEL:

I am not an expert in aerobics given my lack of coordination. Sometimes I struggle to find my left to my right, so I gave myself a challenge. Once I got into the swing of things, I realised that it didn't really matter if I was doing the moves in the exact same way as the instructors. Clubbercise is not about how you look, it's about how you feel and I sure felt like I was getting a decent workout, even if I was improvising a bit.

WORKOUT:

The workout was 45 min long and was very fun! Itis a blend of combat moves and low impact aerobics. Doing aerobics in the dark was unusual and you know nobody’s there to judge you on your moves which is great.

CONCLUSION : It is perfect for those of you who are looking to burn calories while enjoying the workout. If you enjoy clubbing and dancing your feet off, this will be your perfect workout, because Clubbercise is more of a night out than a workout.

However, it’s not about how good you are at following the moves. It’s all about having fun with a bunch of people and following the rhythm of the tunes. Nobody’s there to judge you whatsoever.

Classes are run Monday to Thursday , 4 times a week in the evening. Check out the Facebook page for more information or contact Rich, he always replies so quickly.
