The Yoga Collective: Travel Light with This Yoga Mat
I’m a light packer. I would actually go as far as to say that I’m an expert light packer; it’s somewhat of a super power. Where the majority of people in my life would pack a suitcase for a night’s stay, I can fit a two week holiday into a cabin bag. This would includes clothes, toiletries, books, electronics (laptop, straighteners, hairdryer, chargers, DJI Gimbal) and now my lilac travel yoga mat from The Yoga Collective.
This yoga mat – lilac on the top, yellow on the bottom – has been with me to the Happy Place Festival, a family trip to the Isle of Wight, a camping trip, a gym studio and to many a field for a light stretch whilst my cavachon, Scruffy, zooms around me. It’s ultra thin (only 1.5mm thickness), folds really easily and is light to carry. Plus made from a high-quality coconut fibre for a strong grip, and natural rubber for durability.
In other words, it’s the perfect yoga travel companion for a light packer.

With the travel yoga mat ticking all the happy boxes (topped off by the wonderful interactions with the team), I took a deeper scroll through The Yoga Collective; exploring their values and their products.
Some context before I delve any further: my experience with yoga, pilates and movement is on a very solid level 1. I cannot headstand, or scorpion, or crow, or anything relying on my body to be off the ground. But I do have 10 years of experience in wobbling, tripping and falling on a £10 yoga mat – and getting back up again, I should add.
In other words, I’m not a yogi; I just love being on the mat and getting out of my head (you can’t think about the million tabs open when you’re trying not to fall over again). But, as discussed with someone in my class just last week: when do “normal” people invest in yoga equipment?
Enter, The Yoga Collective.
The Yoga Collective is a family-run business empowering everyone to find their path. Their products, like yoga bricks, foam blocks, yoga straps, and their align mats, are there to enhance yoga practices; with yoga journals and eye pillows there to power wellbeing.
Their values lie heavily on the importance of quality, accessibility and enhancing a wellness lifestyle – all of which I’ve been able to experience through the travel mat alone.
My wishlist for The Yoga Collective: the Yellow Align Mat, Oatmeal Yoga Bag and Yellow Eye Pillow
I would absolutely recommend The Yoga Collective to the many yoga, pilates, HIIT and movement practitioners within the City Girl Network; their mats are beautiful and they’re clearly experts in creating high quality products. But I’d extend that to the thousands more like me who just enjoy the wobble.
I’ve loved that the travel mat has provided a constant reminder to invest time into my wellbeing. As a hypermobile person with sensitive joints, it’s sometimes been a little too thin for hard floored studios. But it’s also shone a light on the poor quality of my old foam mat and what a difference a pretty, matte finish, anti-slip surface can make to my mindset. I’ve got my eye on the yellow align mat for the studio; my aforementioned classmate is treating herself to the seahorse mat.
And Friends of the City Girl Network get to invest in their love of movement (whatever the level) over at The Yoga Collective for 15% off over on the Friends Pass (99p a month or £10 a year)!
