5 Tourist Things To Do In Bath
The UK has many amazing places to visit- and a stay-cation should definitely be on your travel wish list when it comes to exploring everything on offer. Bath is the perfect city for a weekend- or weekday- away! Or maybe you’ve lived in Bath for a few years, but never actually got around to exploring your home like a Tourist? Either way, you’re missing out on what this city has to offer! Bath is the largest city in the county of Somerset, famous for the Roman architecture that remains throughout the city to this day.
The Roman Baths
Discover how the Roman’s liked to relax in a time where Netflix didn’t exist (can you even imagine?). Walk along ancient pavements around the central baths and explore the remarkable history through the many preserved artefacts and storytellers dotted around the museum. And whilst dipping into the spa water is no longer allowed, you can always visit the Thermae Spa for a swim in their rooftop pool with an amazing skyline view.
Bath Canal
Bath is lucky enough to have many canals running through the city so take advantage! Hire out a punt and read some poetry to recreate that hilarious Bridget Jones scene, take a stroll along the canal footpaths and stumble upon a great pub for a light lunch or do something different and go paddle-boarding by Pulteney Bridge and that iconic weir.
Walcot Street
Bath’s acclaimed artisan quarter - home to artists and creatives since Roman times. Here you’ll find some of the best independent shops and restaurants in the city (make sure to check out Cafe Walcot for Pizza and Piano Friday’s and The Yellow Shop for some vintage thrifting!). You can also take part in one of the many workshops held such as glass blowing or weaving to create a unique souvenir from your trip!
Royal Victoria Park and Botanical Gardens
Perfect for an afternoon picnic or a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of Bath during summer (it can get pretty busy!). Head down to Bath on the Beach, a pop up beach bar complete with tiki glasses, fresh cocktails and Mexican flavours. Just make sure to keep your eyes to the skies to spot a passing hot air balloon!
Frome Independent Market
Whilst not exactly in Bath, it’s only a short train or bus journey away. On the first Sunday of every month, the streets of Frome are closed to hold a treasure trove of stalls to showcase the very best of independent businesses, brands and craftspeople in the South West. Living and breathing the motto ‘more than a market’, it’s best you come along with a few pennies as you’ll be spoilt for choice!
