Komedia is a multi-award-winning grassroots venue set in the heart of Brighton’s iconic North Laine. Our independent venue hosts over 700 events a year across two spaces from international, national, and local artists across comedy, music, night clubs, cabaret, spoken word, and children’s events.
About the role
Working with the supervision of the Marketing Manager, the Social Media Coordinator with take a proactive approach to developing our social media content and presence across numerous platforms, and take a lead on monitoring and reporting on the efficacy of this branch of marketing.
About you
Candidates will need some working knowledge of the live arts industry, and a strong background in social media as well as great people skills. Having an understanding of and a passion for a grassroots operation as distinct from a larger corporate entity is a must. Someone who is very creative and not afraid to suggest things that may be a little bit ‘out there’ would be welcomed. Photo & video editing proficiency is a must. Familiarity with Adobe Suite is preferred, but experience with other adjacent tools with transferable skills is fine. Prospective applicants must have critical thinking skills and be able to adopt and adapt Komedia’s tone of voice appropriately.
Tracking and reporting upon key statistics with a view to informing growth strategies is a key skill, and we have tools in place for doing this, though an applicant would be welcome to redesign these tools too if desired.
Because of various concerns (environmental, artistic, intellectual property, quality), we tend to steer away from AI use, especially in creative work, so we need someone who trusts their own brain!
We work in an open plan office, so applicants must be prepared to work in this space, as it’s not a remote role. We have, however, as a team taken accessibility training from Joyfully Different and will always be keen to make reasonable accommodations for anyone for whom this mode of working might present issues. Many of us work with a flexible working pattern too, so we’re happy to discuss what works best for you. Also, it being a live performance venue, it may sometimes be necessary for some of your work to take place at weekends or in the evenings, by agreement with your manager.
We’re actively reaching out to underrepresented community groups to apply, but just to affirm, we invite applications from people who feel they can bring their own skills, experiences, and ideas to the table (and empower those around them to do the same) and are especially keen to hear from those groups currently underrepresented in the sphere of arts and culture.
