SUPER Exciting news! City Girl Network is launching in six brand-new locations across the UK to bring our thriving communities to life there too! We’re thrilled to give a big hello to…

Bucks Girl

Cheltenham Girl

Devon Girl

Newport Girl

Norwich Girl

Swansea Girl

And a BIG hello from me too.... your Head of UK Communities, Steph 👋

I’ve been a part of the City Girl Network for over 4 and a half years - right at the peak of covid, and the peak of loneliness that led me to search for something I wasn’t even sure what I was looking for. In steps: Bristol Girl and the City Girl Network. I grabbed each volunteer opportunity with both hands - it was safe to say, if there was something to try I was first in line. And now I get to support other volunteers to do the same.

Last year, I became the first ever employee of the City Girl Network, responsible for the experience of every single member and every single volunteer within our communities. It's amazing how far we've come, from Pippa hosting a coffee meet up in Brighton in 2016 to becoming one of the UK's largest networks in 2025. I’m proud to support a network that never compromises on our mission and is the go to resource hub for connections in the UK - may that be friendship, business, travel, housing or otherwise - its a truly exciting time to get involved.

The launch of our next six communities marks a whole new phase for City Girl Network, focusing on areas where we know our current communities are relocating, settling, and buying homes. As more City Girls move to these locations, we want to ensure they continue to have a strong network of support, friendship, and opportunities.

We trialed this new evolution with Rural Sussex – our first community that technically isn't a city (it covers anywhere in Sussex that isn’t Brighton and Worthing). This community was initially built on the foundations of Brighton Girl. Jas, the Community Manager, was a volunteer for Brighton Girl, hosting regular clothes swaps pre-pandemic and moved from her flat in Brighton to a house near Ashdown Forest for a slower pace of life, whilst still working in the city. Soon after, Pippa (our founder) moved out of Brighton and into to Haywards Heath, becoming a Rural Sussex Girl herself.

Jas, Pippa and the Rural Sussex Girl community aren’t the only ones embracing this move. The last 9 years of the City Girl Network has seen a huge cultural shift taking place with the way that people live and work.

As of October 2024, 41% of workers continued to engage in remote work, with 13% working from home full-time and 28% in hybrid arrangements. This ongoing shift in work culture has made areas like Devon and Norwich increasingly attractive for those seeking a better work-life balance – we’ve seen hundreds of our members move there over the years.

At the same time, there’s the cost of living and housing crisis, which is leading many members of our second-largest community, Bristol, to move to Cheltenham & Newport in search of more affordable accommodation. By launching in these areas, we aim to provide continuity and a sense of belonging for those relocating while also welcoming new members into our ever-growing network.

This socio-economic shift also informed our investment into beautiful Wales, which is 25% less expensive compared to England. We noticed that a lot of our Cardiff Girls were actually from Swansea & Newport and going to Cardiff Girl for that connection because they couldn’t find it closer to home. We’re also excited to introduce the ‘Slow Living’ style activities hosted by some of our communities into the beautiful settings of The Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons.

Our final community to add to our current expansion, is Bucks Girl. This is a popular choice for commuters, with its large green spaces and convenience of getting to London, and tons more affordable in comparison to London for housing! On the success of our MK Girl network, we are excited to open a network for the whole of Bucks to be involved.

For 9 years and counting, City Girl Network has been a beacon of connection, empowerment, support and trusted knowledge resource for women in cities across the UK. Our mission is simple: to help women feel at home in their city by providing opportunities for connections, sharing experiences, and creating a sense of belonging.

Our ethos is about ensuring that our members can 'belong where they are', and as we strategically move forward, we are naturally evolving into becoming the big sister to city girls—being their guide and providing the tools for living in their new community. Whether it’s discovering businesses that align with our values or finding the best hairdresser, we will continue to be the go-to place for these essential connections and recommendations.

With this launch, we’re bringing our signature blend of social events, local recommendations, and online communities to even more women looking to find not only their new girl gang, but those essential tools of living there. Whether you’re new to the area, seeking fresh experiences, or simply looking to connect with like-minded individuals, City Girl Network is an essential resource and key to your community.
