The Location
The location could not be more PERFECT! Harbour Hotel Brighton is in the heart of the Brighton seaside - you simply cross the road and you are there! It’s literally on the doorstop of this magnificent hotel. Other iconic locations are in walking distance - 7 minutes to the Brighton I360 and around 10 minutes to get to the iconic Lanes, which seemed to be the jewellery district.
The only thing to note is, there is no stopping outside the hotel to drop off your bags, so ensure you are parked up and walk in. This may be trickier to those with access needs - but there are plenty of car parking opportunities within 7-10 minutes walk of the hotel. We parked in the Regency Car Park which cost £40 for overnight parking.
The Room
I stayed in a ‘Superior Sea View Double’ – a deluxe offering for two guests. It had a large king size bed with soft white sheets, gorgeous comfy cushions & pillows, and a table-side on both sides of the bed with power points on both sides to charge devices. The room was very spacious with a seating area to view the sea view that was very prominent.
Additional little extras that really make the room sparkle are the complimentary water & binoculars! So you can see that sea in pure HD.. delightful little touch!
The bathroom included a toilet, sink, mirror, and shower with a rainforest style showerhead (absolutely lush!) equipped with shampoo, conditioner and body wash that smelt beautiful.
The Experience
I was welcomed by a lovely staff member on arrival and asked if we could leave our suitcases - as we were certainly far too early to check in. This was absolutely no problem, and with tags attached our bags were wheeled into another room which left us time to explore! It was noted they would send a message to the phone number on file when the room was ready, but we were aware the earliest check in time was 3pm. So armed with info, we headed straight to the workspace area!
In the bar there is a perfect high top station with lots of power points that was very suitable for working. I ordered myself a drink and did not feel I was in the way, or not welcome - which can be found at other work spaces that are not co working spaces. There were also plenty of other lower seating options but I could not see the plugs are easily located. This was a great location to work in, however, with such proximity to the bar - once a large group came in - the noise reducing headphones were on, so one to be aware of!
3pm came and went, and no message was received - however, back on arrival at the hotel at check in time, we were welcomed with open arms - explained all about the hotel and what to expect. Our suitcases were rolled out to us and we located the lift and our room with ease.
The Spa
At around 4pm, we grabbed our provided bathrobes and slipped into our swimming clobber as we decided it was time to get stuck into the spa! We were greeted by a lovely spa therapist that got us to sign in, and she explained we were the last two to go in at this time, as they were at full capacity. Full capacity being 35 guests. It’s an additional £10PP to go into the spa, unless this is part of your hotel package, or spa package you have paid for prior to arrival. There is a huge selection of treatments as well that you can upgrade to, but the spa had plenty to do without the addition.
After going through the changing room area, on the first layer of the spa was a small swimming pool, and one very large jacuzzi that would comfortably fit around 10 people. Leading down the stairs was another two smaller hot tubs, a steam room, sauna and chill out area equipped with very comfortable bed style seating. This was all super impressive, full of ambiance and perfect for a little chill out time.
Top tip - if hot outside, the spa gets busier in the late afternoon, so go a bit earlier if you can, so you don’t miss out.
The Food
Oh boy, the food, the food.
We were treated to a gorgeous array of food during our dinner. The dinner space is plentiful - with views of the sea or some quirky additions such as a fairground type sign and a tree! We chose as our starters for popcorn chicken and a seafood medley. The seafood medley was spot on for a seaside location - and was full of flavour and moist. The popcorn chicken had a fab texture but was lacking in taste in comparison but still lovely.
Our mains - Steak Frites & the burger with fries. Perfection! I have nothing else to say, order those.
For dessert which by this point we were so full, but it’s dessert! I had a refreshing and light Raspberry Pavlova and my partner opted for the chocolate option. Both complimented each other. The chocolate was decadent and rich - everything you want from a chocolate dish, and the raspberry pavlova was light, creamy and sweet.
I would highly recommend a booking at the restaurant - you will not be disappointed.
In the morning, we ventured down for breakfast. I must say, I am a breakfast buffet lover, so I was slightly disappointed it was order on arrival. However, that is a very personal choice - and order on arrival meant the freshest quality of products so this would be a pro for many many people.
