Nourish Chilled Bars Review: The Sweet Treats We Keep Coming Back For
Caramel Nourish Chilled Bars are my favourite new sweet find this year. As a regular food reviewer, this is not a statement I dish out lightly.
In fact, this isn't our first time talking about Nourish. We reviewed their bars back in June, when The Nutty One quickly became a firm favourite. We enjoyed it so much that we went out and bought another from our local independent health food shop.
And it seems history is repeating itself. Having now explored Nourish's chilled dessert bars, we've found ourselves heading back to an independent retailer to pick up another Caramel bar. When a product goes from something you're reviewing to something you're actively spending your own money on, you know it's made an impression.
Nourish's chilled bars are made with ingredients including nuts, coconut, cacao and dates, with no gluten, dairy or refined sugar. They arrive chilled and can be enjoyed straight from the fridge or kept in the freezer for whenever a sweet craving strikes.
In other words, they're not trying to be another cereal bar.
They're trying to be dessert.
What is Nourish?
Nourish is a British snack brand founded by Ineke Nugteren, a New Zealand-born former nurse whose career took her from clinics in Africa to intensive care.
The story behind it is a practical one. During her years working in healthcare, Ineke began questioning the relationship between the dietary advice patients received and the health problems she continued to see. Her own experiences with food intolerances had also made her increasingly frustrated with the free-from products available, many of which relied on artificial ingredients to replace what had been taken out.
So, in 2015, she started making coconut macaroons in her family kitchen.
What began as homemade treats soon developed into a business built around a simple idea: food should nourish us without taking away the enjoyment of eating it.
More than a decade later, Nourish produces its products in its own SALSA-accredited kitchen and has secured listings with retailers including Ocado, Selfridges and Whole Foods Market, alongside a growing network of independent shops.
It's also a brand that's gaining recognition. In 2026, Ineke was named a finalist for Woman of the Year at the International Confectionery Awards, while The Nutty One was shortlisted in the Sweet Snacks category at the Great British Food Awards.
Another part of Nourish's story worth mentioning is its charitable work. The brand donates 10% of its net profits to Water for Good, supporting communities in gaining access to sustainable clean water systems.
For Ineke, this is particularly meaningful because access to clean water can also create opportunities for women, freeing up time otherwise spent collecting water and enabling them to pursue education, employment or their own businesses.
It's a reminder that behind these little chocolate bars is a business with ambitions beyond simply selling snacks.
How we got on with the Nourish chilled bars
We've now tried three flavours from Nourish's chilled dessert range: Coconutty, Caramel and Raspberry, officially known as Raspbounty.
While each offers something different, there was one very clear winner in our household.
Coconutty: Our after-dinner treat
The Coconutty bar combines almond, coconut and cacao with a pinch of pink Himalayan salt, bringing together flavours that feel familiar, comforting and indulgent.
This quickly became our family's after-dinner treat.
One of the things I appreciate most as a parent is finding something that feels like a proper pudding without relying on the usual ingredients found in many conventional sweet treats.
The Coconutty delivers on that front. It satisfies the craving for something chocolatey, and the combination of coconut and almond makes it feel a little more substantial than an ordinary chocolate bar.
It's also the kind of thing you can easily keep in the freezer and bring out when everyone starts asking what's for pudding.
No preparation, no washing up and no complaints.
Caramel: The one we went back and bought
If I had to recommend just one Nourish chilled bar, it would be the Caramel.
Made with ingredients including almonds, dates, Brazil nuts and cacao, it has that rich, indulgent quality you want from something inspired by a classic caramel dessert.
Think of it as a more ingredient-conscious take on millionaire's shortbread, with the sweetness of dates and maple syrup bringing everything together.
When we first tried it, my partner quickly claimed it as his work-from-home afternoon pick-me-up. It became the sort of treat he'd reach for when he needed a little break from his desk.
But it wasn't just him who loved it.
I enjoyed the Caramel bar so much that, after finishing our original supply, I spotted one in a local independent shop and bought it again.
For me, that's always one of the biggest tests of a product I'm reviewing.
It's easy to say you enjoy something when you've been sent it to try, but would you actually buy it yourself?
In the case of Nourish's Caramel bar, the answer is a very definite yes.
And considering how many snacks and sweet treats I get to try as a food reviewer, that's saying something.
Raspberry: One for the sweet-and-sharp lovers
We also tried the Raspberry flavour, known as Raspbounty, which combines coconut, walnuts, cacao and raspberry for something a little fruitier.
Now, this one wasn't quite as successful in our household.
The raspberry flavour has a distinctly sharp, tart edge, which was a little too strong for our personal tastes. We tend to prefer our sweet treats on the richer, more mellow side, so it didn't quite hit the spot in the same way as the Caramel and Coconutty.
That said, I can absolutely see the appeal for someone who loves that sweet-and-sharp combination.
If you're the sort of person who gravitates towards raspberry desserts, tangy fruit fillings or the contrast of tart berries against chocolate, this could easily be your favourite of the range.
And that's the beauty of having several flavours to choose from. Not every bar is going to suit every palate.
For us, Raspberry was the one we'd be less likely to buy again, but for lovers of fruity, tangy treats, it's certainly worth exploring.
Healthier treats that still feel indulgent
What keeps bringing us back to Nourish is that the products don't feel like a compromise.
There's a tendency for healthier snacks to focus so heavily on what they don't contain that the actual experience of eating them becomes secondary.
Nourish seems to approach things differently.
Yes, the bars are gluten-free, dairy-free and made without refined sugar. But they're also designed to taste good, feel satisfying and offer something that resembles a genuine dessert.
It's worth remembering that they're still sweet treats, containing naturally occurring sugars and ingredients such as maple syrup, nuts and coconut oil. Being free from refined sugar doesn't automatically make something low in calories or sugar.
But for anyone looking for alternatives made with recognisable plant-based ingredients, they offer a different way to enjoy those everyday sweet moments.
And there's something quite lovely about knowing you've got a little pudding waiting in the freezer whenever you fancy one.
Should you buy Nourish chilled bars?
Yes, particularly if you're looking for gluten-free, dairy-free or refined sugar-free alternatives to conventional chocolate bars and desserts.
The Coconutty became a reliable family favourite after dinner, while the Caramel has firmly earned its place as our top pick. It's rich, satisfying and delicious enough that we've gone back and spent our own money on it.
The Raspberry wasn't quite for us, being a little too sharp and tart for our liking, but we'd still recommend considering it if you're someone who loves those punchy, fruity flavours.
What I particularly like about Nourish is that our relationship with the brand hasn't ended once the review products have been eaten.
We've now bought bars independently on more than one occasion, and that says far more about how much we enjoy them than any glowing description could.
It also helps that Nourish is stocked by independent health food retailers, meaning you don't necessarily have to commit to a whole box to discover your favourite.
If you're curious, I'd suggest starting with the Caramel. And if you love it as much as we do, you'll probably find yourself looking out for it every time you visit your local health food shop.
As for us, we'll be keeping a few in the freezer.
Pudding sorted.
You can buy Nourish chilled bars in packs of three, larger packs or as a selection box from Nourish's website, as well as through selected independent retailers. All flavours contain tree nuts, so always check the ingredients and allergen information before purchasing.
Disclaimer: We were originally gifted Nourish products in exchange for an honest review. We have since independently purchased additional bars, including the Caramel flavour. All opinions are our own.
