Sporting Events In Manchester To Add To Your Diary For 2020

Manchester is home to many big sporting leagues and events- and not just football. It is a world renowned city of sport and whether you play sports or not, watching sport is a great day out. We have chosen … events for you to add to your diary for 2020. The Tokyo Olympics in 2020 means that qualifying events will be taking place throughout the start of 2020! 

Whether it’s finally going to that football match after living in Manchester for 3 years (guilty!) or watching a sport you didn’t even know had a major event, there is something for everyone to get stuck into!

National Track Championship: 24 January 2020- 26 January 2020

If Cycling is something that appeals to you then the National Track Championships is something to add to your diary for 2020! This event is returning to the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre in Manchester, also the home of the Great Britain Cycling Team. 

The iconic jerseys of the Great Britain Team thanks to the 2016 Olympics means that you're guaranteed to be up in your seats cheering as Britain's next generation of riders take to the track along with the heroes we love in a bid to become National Champion. Get your tickets here. 

Para POWER LIFTING World Cup and Tokyo Paralympic Qualifier: 20 February 2020- 23 February 2020

A sporting event with a difference, watch immense strength and focus by the world's top  Paralympic athletes. The competition is one of the final qualification events for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Hosted at Wythenshawe Forum, ticket information have not been released yet. UCI BMX Supercross World Cup: 18 April 2020 - 19 April 2020 

If you want a day out with a difference, head to the National Cycling Center in Manchester for the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. The world's leading BMX riders are battling it out over the two days to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. 

The indoor track means it's a great event for Manchester as it’s safe from the rain! The tracks design also means there are plenty of opportunities for the BMX riders to jump, spin and thrill as you cheer them on. Find out more and get your tickets here. 

Football Matches: Throughout 2020

It’s a religion in Manchester. You’re either City fans or support Man United. Red or Blue. With football matches throughout 2020, if you haven’t been to a match yet, there is no excuse for not finding out what all they hype is about! 

Manchester City matches are played in their home stadium at the Etihad Stadium, you can get your tickets here. If you would prefer to support Manchester United, playing in their home stadium of Old Trafford, you can get tickets here. Just remember to wear the right colours on the day.
