Style Guide...with the CGN Fashion and Beauty Team

Raise your hand if you suffer from "Nothing to Wear" syndrome - a condition 99.9% of women will experience at least once in their lifetime, the main symptom being panic and despair at the contents of their wardrobe, most often 10 minutes before they are due to leave for an event.

In this series, we'll be fighting this epidemic by showing you how to create chic looks from pieces we guarantee are hanging in your wardrobe.

To kick things off, we’re talking Leopard print. It’s been a feature in so many people’s wardrobes forever but it’s only recently that leopard print has started to be considered a wardrobe staple.

This issue, our Fashion and Beauty Editor, Ariella, and our Community Manager, Charlotte are sharing their hero Leopard Print pieces from their own wardrobes and their top tips for styling the same.

ARIELLA

For a chic and effortless take, wear leopard print as you would wear your classic whites, blacks, greys etc and build your look around it.

Go for the double basic and wear with white.

…or black.

Wear with contrasting colours and textures.

Remember, balance is key! If you feel the look is wearing you, try keeping blank space or a bit of skin between the contrasting pieces.

Or…go bold and mix those prints! If you don’t know where to start, my general rule of thumb is that opposites attract…large graphic leopard print on your lower half? Pair with a top with a smaller, contrasting print. As leopard print is usually noticeably circular in motif, try balancing it with a geometric/linear/gingham print.

CHARLOTTE

Denim takes on rock chic. There is something about a long sleeved leopard print top that styles any outfit. Tucked in with mom jeans and an added band tee adding that pop of colour to a dark outfit. Shoe suggestion: Black converses/vans.

Leopard is for every season. On a summer's day leopard can be casualised with a plain top and sandals/trainers. This outfit was a light leopard denim so I styled it with a white off-the-shoulder crop top adding a statement necklace and slip on sandals.

Cocktail evenings with the girls are my go-to, I love a dress up and always have that one dress I could wear every time so I change up the accessories and what I wear with it to look like a whole new outfit. Silk leopard print can match so well with other materials as long as you have those breaks. I put a black corset over my wrap dress and style it with heeled black over ankle boots and matching bag. Outfits like this can be dressed down with some white/nude brown trainers and cropped jackets.

And there you have it! Your basic leopard print piece that goes with everything.
