The Old Market Hove Review: Changing Currents - Of Land, Sea and Sky Launch Party
Summary
Rating: ★★★★
Running Dates: Saturday 2nd May
Review
“Of Land, Sea and Sky” is a new series launched at the Old Market as part of this year’s Brighton Festival. The season will run throughout May, promising an array of events you don’t want to miss. It opened in lively fashion with a headline set from Brighton-based DJ and producer Changing Currents.
The launch party was nothing short of exciting. Changing Currents delivered a high-energy performance that blended familiar, instantly recognisable moments with fresher sounds drawn from a wide range of styles and genres. The set was playful, upbeat, and built for movement. Phones stayed away for the evening, the crowd dancing and enjoying the moment. It was an opening night full of fun and connection, a strong start for the new series.
The rest of the events will span soundbaths, animation, talks, and film, the central theme being nature, climate change, and the beauty of the world around us. It felt fitting that the series began with a night of shared celebration, before turning to reflection.
