The Protein Ball Co: Worthing’s Bite-Sized Revolution in Healthy Snacking

Remember how our office dog, Scruffy, glowingly reviewed ‘It’s The Dog’s’ dog treat last month? Well, treat creators The Protein Ball Co have just had a total revamp of their human energy ball treats and now our whole house is obsessed with them.

Founded almost a decade ago on the sunny Sussex coast, The Protein Ball Co has always kept things simple: real ingredients, small-batch production, and snacks you can actually pronounce. Their energy balls, made with wholesome cupboard staples like dates, oats and peanut butter, are designed for grazing, not gulping. They’re the perfect size for when you’re running between meetings, walking the dog on the beach, or need that 3 pm pick-me-up that doesn’t come wrapped in a chemistry set.

From Worthing to the World

Despite their roots right here in Worthing, The Protein Ball Co has rolled its way into more than 18 countries, including over 10,000 stores across North America. You’ll also find them closer to home in places like Caffè Nero and WHSmith travel hubs, proving that clean, real-food snacking is finally getting the spotlight it deserves.

Their latest revamp, Ballsy by Nature, captures exactly what makes this brand so special. They’re bold, fearless, and proud to stand up to the overly processed protein bars crowding our shelves. Instead of hard-to-say sweeteners and “polypols,” these little bites are made in-house with the founder’s signatures on every pack.

Grazing Done Right

We love that The Protein Ball Co is leaning into how people actually eat today: little and often. Their 6-ball packs make mindful snacking easy; whether you’re on the go, sharing with friends, or looking for something lighter after your morning workout. It’s a snack that suits the way we live, especially for those balancing busy schedules, smaller appetites, or mindful eating goals.

The Protein Ball Co Flavours

All of the Energy Balls were tried, tested and really enjoyed by my tester team. The helpful news for you is that all of the flavour names are a great representation of what they taste like – just a little healthier.

Our absolute favourite has to be the Peanut Butter. Perhaps influenced by the fact that we tried it with Scruffy, whilst she was trying her own It’s The Dog’s Peanut Butter Balls. It was as cute as it sounds.

Strong second contenders are the Lemon & Pistachio paired with an electrolyte drink for an extra health kick, and the Salted Caramel with a lovely mug of Rooibos for an indulgent nutritious snack.

Classic Range

  • Peanut Butter – A timeless favourite with a smooth, nutty richness that hits just right for an afternoon energy boost.

  • Coconut & Macadamia – Smooth, tropical and subtly sweet — the perfect desk-drawer escape.

  • Lemon & Pistachio – Bright, zesty and lightly nutty, this one’s a sunshine snack in ball form.

  • Blueberry Oat Muffin – Soft and oaty with a fruity twist, like your favourite breakfast muffin, but snack-friendly.

  • Coffee Oat Muffin – Rich, roasty and satisfying. Ideal for pairing with your mid-morning flat white.

  • Choc Chip Muffin – Comforting and classic, with just enough sweetness to satisfy a chocolate craving without the crash.

Plant-Based Range

  • Peanut Butter – 100% plant-powered, full of natural protein and that creamy peanut butter goodness.

  • Cacao & Orange – Dark chocolate meets citrus for a grown-up twist on a classic combo.

  • Salted Caramel – Sweet, buttery and just a little indulgent. Perfect for when you want a treat that still feels wholesome.

A Brand Worth Backing

Sustainability is baked in too, with recyclable, FSC-certified paper pouches and suppliers powered by solar energy. As they approach their 10-year anniversary in 2026, the team is gearing up for another round of innovation with new machines, new recipes and even bolder flavours already in the works.

But for us, what really stands out is that The Protein Ball Co has stayed true to its roots: proudly local, proudly Worthing, and proudly ballsy by nature.

If you haven’t already, grab a box over on their website, and join us in cheering on one of Worthing Girl’s favourite homegrown heroes.
