Manchester Girl Christmas Book Club

Join us for December's Book Club, where we will be discussing Christmas and Other Horrors, a solstice anthology compiled by Ellen Datlow.

December's theme is Christmas and this book explores the darker side of the festive period, with a collection of short stories celebrating Christmas mythology and tales from around the world. From the eerie Austrian Schnabelperchten to the skeletal Welsh Mari Lwyd, by way of ravenous golems, uncanny neighbors, and unwelcome visitors, Christmas and Other Horrors captures the heart and horror of the festive season.

This event will be hosted at Haunt, Peter Street, in Manchester. Our book club events are now being run through the City Girl website, allowing us to give numbers to the venue beforehand. For our Christmas event, tickets are charged at £27.

This includes food supplied by the venue (please let us know if you are vegan or have allergies). Please ensure you buy a ticket beforehand as numbers are strictly limited for this event. Food option:

Starter: Salumi, Cheese, Nocellara Del Belice

Sharer Platter: Mushroom & wild garlic aranchi, sage & onion sausage roll, roast chicken & 3 cheese croquette, fritto misto, pigs in blankets, garlic, mozzarella & parsley sfincione

To Finish: Tiramisu cannoli

Our Christmas event also includes a book swap, so please bring a book to swap with a fellow member, wrapped with a short anonymous description on the front. Whether you're a seasoned member; new to the Book Club or just want to get a feel for what we're about, grab a drink and come and join us 💕📚
