5 Best Manchester Cocktail Bars

The Fitzgerald

Stevenson Square, Northern Quarter

Hark back to the prohibition era in this dimly-lit jazz joint where you can easily pretend it’s the 20s with a backstreet entrance and vintage decor. Thursday is the highlight of the week as musicians play live jazz and blues to accompany your mellow cocktail-sipping.

Dusk Til Pawn

Stevenson Square, Northern Quarter

We don’t care what anyone says, a pun in the name of an establishment is undoubtedly a sure sign of quality. The facade of a pawn shop disguises the impressive cocktail bar that lies within. There’s a cocktail for everyone with some special twists on the classic so don’t be surprised if there’s pepperoni in your Old Fashioned.

The Refuge

Oxford Street

A classic and beautiful building, the atmosphere of this venue isn’t to be missed. Perfect for date night or a fancy evening with the girls, head to the bar after the theatre or before trying out their dining experience.

The Liquor Store

Blackfriars St

A New York-style bar with an English twist as Manchester’s greatest exports including the Gallaghers, Morrissey and The Bee Gees adorn one wall. It pairs a great indie and rock n roll tracks with some delicious cocktails so is perfect for an upbeat vibe. It gets better; there is two locations to choose from.

17 Below

Bow Ln

A basement cocktail joint that is 80s arcade themed, we are here to give you variety after all. It’s situated below Dogs n Dough, a bar-cum-restaurant that you have to through to get to 17 Below, its concealed location adding to the adventure and mystery of the place. All cocktails are £8.50 and the best bit; all the arcade games are free to play. Wizard.
