Cute Hot Tub Breaks in the South West for a Girls’ Weekend Away
Looking for the best hot tub breaks in the South West for a girls’ weekend away? From cosy cottages in Devon and Dorset to luxury spa stays in Somerset and coastal lodges in Cornwall, there are plenty of places made for switching off with your best friend.
The idea for this guide came from our Bristol Girl community, after one member asked for recommendations for a cute two-night break with a private hot tub and a pub nearby.
So we went looking.
Whether you’re planning a birthday trip, a best-friend catch-up or simply want a relaxing couple of nights away, these are some of our favourite hot tub breaks across Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and Dorset.
For the biggest choice: browse Sykes Cottages
If your brief is very specific — two nights, private hot tub, somewhere pretty and preferably stumbling distance from a pub — Sykes Cottages is a particularly good place to start.
Rather than being limited to one style of accommodation, you can find everything from tiny romantic lodges and converted barns to seaside cottages and larger houses for a group.
A cosy lodge for two in Devon
For a proper countryside escape, The Pennymoor near Tiverton caught our attention. It's a detached one-bedroom lodge for two with countryside views and its own wood-fired hot tub. Think robes, drinks outside and very little incentive to leave once you've checked in.
It would work particularly well if you're after a quieter best-friend escape rather than a busy holiday park.
City Girl tip: when searching Sykes, use the hot tub filter and then check the individual listing for the distance to the nearest pub. Some properties specifically list pubs and shops within a mile, which saves a lot of Google Maps detective work.
For a Cornwall girls' trip with everything on site: Retallack Resort
If your idea of relaxation is having a hot tub without being stranded miles from food and drinks, Retallack is an interesting option.
Away Resorts' Retallack Resort in Cornwall has hot-tub accommodation alongside an on-site restaurant and bar, spa facilities and activities. Away Resorts currently lists it as one of its three Cornish parks offering hot-tub stays.
There's also a slightly unusual crossover here: some privately owned properties at Retallack can be booked through Sykes. Redwood, for example, has a secluded hot tub and access to a bar and restaurant around 0.1 miles away. It sleeps eight, so it's more suited to a proper girls' weekend than a trip for two.
For sea views and hot tubs: St Ives Bay
If St Ives is calling, there are two very different hot tub options depending on the kind of weekend you want.
For an easy everything-in-one-place break, Away Resorts’ St Ives Bay is a strong choice. The holiday park has direct access to a three-mile sandy beach, alongside selected hot tub accommodation, an indoor pool, restaurant and bar.
It works particularly well if you want the convenience of having food, drinks and facilities on site, while still being able to spend the weekend exploring the Cornish coast.
Or take a look at the idyllic Tresco Bungalow through Sykes Cottages. This two-bedroom bungalow sleeps four and overlooks Porthminster Beach, with a private hot tub, sea views and the beach around 100 yards away. Even better for the original Bristol Girl brief, the nearest pub is listed at just 0.2 miles away.
For countryside with the beach close by: Newperran
Newperran Holiday Resort is another Cornwall option worth checking if you want countryside surroundings but still want to be able to reach the coast easily.
Away Resorts describes the park as being around ten minutes from the beach, with selected accommodation offering private hot tubs.
This one would suit a group who wants the best of both worlds: slow mornings at the lodge, a drive to the coast for lunch and a hot tub waiting when you get back.
Don't rule out Dorset
Deer Lodge at Chapel Lodges, near Wimborne Minster, East Dorset
The original Bristol Girl request also mentioned Dorset, and we'd definitely keep it in the search.
Sykes has a huge variety of individual cottages and lodges, so this is where we'd use filters rather than choose a destination first: search Dorset + two guests + hot tub + short break, then look for somewhere with a village pub within walking distance.
Away Resorts also has Dorset holiday parks, making it another option if you'd rather have resort facilities than a completely independent cottage.
Our favourites were:
Deer Lodge at Chapel Lodges, near Wimborne Minster, East Dorset – A cute one-bedroom lodge for two set on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster, with a private hot tub and access to acres of countryside, making it ideal for a quiet best-friend escape.
Pheasant Lodge, near Wimborne Minster, East Dorset – Another lovely option for two near Wimborne, this cosy studio-style retreat sits within 13 acres of private countryside and comes with its own garden and hot tub.
The Retreat, Ferndown, East Dorset – A two-bedroom stay in Ferndown, close to Bournemouth and the New Forest, with an enclosed garden and private hot tub, so it works well if you want countryside without being too far from the coast.
Mayflower Cottage, Lyme Regis, West Dorset – Our pick for a bigger girls’ trip, sleeping up to eight in the heart of Lyme Regis with a covered hot tub, pubs and shops within 0.2 miles and the beach just a short walk away.
Northern Byre, Sopley, on the Hampshire–Dorset border near Christchurch – Technically just over the border in Hampshire, but too good not to include: this four-bedroom barn conversion sleeps eight, has a private hot tub and is only around 0.2 miles from The Woolpack pub.

Bristol Girl recommendation: Homewood, Bath
One of our Bristol Girls suggested Homewood, just outside Bath, and we can absolutely see why. This is the option for a girls’ break that leans more luxury spa retreat than cosy cottage.
Set in the Somerset countryside, Homewood has an indoor hydrotherapy pool, heated outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub and plenty of spaces designed for doing very little.
If you want to really commit to the hot tub brief, its Spa Suites come with their own private covered hot tub and terrace, plus a barrel sauna and plunge pool.
It’s a particularly good choice if your ideal girls’ weekend is less “pub crawl and muddy boots” and more robes, spa time, dinner and a very slow morning.

Or broaden the search beyond the South West
Sometimes the best girls' trip is the one you weren't originally searching for.

So if you're flexible on destination, we'd search by accommodation first rather than location.

That's a much better starting point than becoming emotionally attached to Devon and then discovering every dreamy cabin is seven miles from the nearest glass of wine.
Tried, Tested and Loved
Whitecliff Bay, Isle of Wight
If you’re open to travelling a little further, Whitecliff Bay near Bembridge on the Isle of Wight is one we’d happily recommend from experience. We’ve stayed twice — once in summer with family, including a pre-teen and teenager, and once in winter (December) — and loved it both times.
Private access to a beautiful beach, cliff walks and stunning views where you can watch the ships pass across the sea.
In summer, an outdoor heated pool (and a very child-dominated indoor pool), film screenings and the Nab Bar terrace overlooking the sea, plus genuinely excellent fish and chips. In winter, the main bar and some facilities are closed, but Bembridge is around a 20-minute walk away and has plenty of pubs, making it a lovely option for a quieter coastal escape.
If you want a hot tub stay with more of a resort feel, it’s a great one to add to the shortlist. It’s dog friendly, too!
Summer gets all the UK staycation attention, but we're increasingly convinced that October and November are made for hot-tub breaks.
The beaches are quieter. Countryside walks come with crunchy leaves. You can legitimately spend an entire evening in a robe. And there's something much more satisfying about getting into a steaming hot tub when it's properly chilly outside.
For maximum choice, we'd start with Sykes Cottages and filter down to exactly the kind of property you're after.
If you want a lodge or caravan with facilities, food, drinks and things to do already on site, we'd look at Away Resorts, particularly its Cornwall hot-tub destinations.
Then all that's left to decide is who's bringing the snacks.
