Review

Alcohol can be calorific, and when you like cocktails (like I do) it can be really hard to control calorie intake. As I’ve got older, I’ve had to monitor my calories more which is why I’ve tried loads of different spritzers and hard seltzers. They’re all premixed and relatively low calorie. What’s great too, is that in a convenient can they’re perfect for a barbeque with friends or a picnic with the girls.

I’m not the only one who finds these canned drinks handy, which is why there are so many different varieties in the fridge section of even the littlest supermarkets. Vin Crowd is a brand I hadn’t come across before. They were set up in 2019 by Kingsland Drinks, and are available in Co-op, Drink Well UK, and also on Amazon

Catering to young women, one is gin-based and the other is pink-wine based. The packaging too is fun, bright, and eye-catching - they know who they’re marketing to!

Vin Crowd Botanical Spritz

The tag line for this is “win-win, raspberry and gin” and ordinarily I would agree. However, for me, the raspberry flavour didn’t come through enough. At 139 kcal a can this is not dissimilar to a can of gin and tonic which I personally would prefer.

This can is missing the fruitiness it needs to take me away from my beloved gin and tonic. Would I drink it again? Absolutely! But would I buy this one again? I’d try something else.

Vin Crowd Wine Pink Spritz

This wine-based spritzer is much more my vibe. Despite the lower calories (91kcal) than its gin sister this felt sweeter and was much more reminiscent of a summery cocktail. The flavours are rose wine, strawberry and raspberry, and although the berry flavours weren’t distinctive, the fruitiness definitely came through.

Unlike some other drinks marketed at young women, it wasn’t overly sweet either and definitely had a tartness to it that I enjoyed, making this very easy drinking.

In Summary

Summed up in one sentence: Two easy drinking spritzers that are simple crowd-pleasers to enjoy with friends while remaining relatively guilt-free.

For fans of: White Claw, Nice Drinks

Perfect for: A picnic in the park or on the way to pre-drinks or a holiday (e.g. Train drinks!)

Places to find it: Co-op, Amazon, and Drinkwell UK
