Queer Fiction That Will Take Your Breath Away

As a queer person, I am always on the lookout for new queer fiction, especially anything that involves lesbians, non-binary and trans people. So, if you are looking for something new to read, look no further because I’ve got your back.

Here are the 5 sauciest titles and if you read any of them let us know in the comments.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a historical fiction novel by American author Taylor Jenkins Reid and published by Atria Books in 2017. The novel tells the story of the fictional Old Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo, who at the age of 79 decides to give a final interview to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant. This book will leave you absolutely speechless and will also make you cry.

Felix Ever After by Kacen Kallender

Another amazing book that will give you all the feels. Felix Ever After is an honest and layered story about identity, falling in love, and recognising the love you deserve. A wonderfully inclusive transgender love story, Callender's important novel finds the eponymous Felix caught in an unlikely love triangle after he receives transphobic abuse from an anonymous source

AfterLove by Tanya Byrne

If you are based in Brighton, then you need to read this book because it will make you feel right at home. After Ash is killed in a car accident, she must choose between becoming a Reaper gathering souls for the afterlife or seeing her first love Poppy again, in this impossibly quirky and affecting supernatural romance.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

If you haven’t got it yet, I am in love with lesbian fiction so here goes nothing. This is my fourth recommendation, a book that is absolutely breathtaking. One Last Stop is a delightful speculative tale that follows August Landry, a somewhat cynical mystery lover who finds the ultimate puzzle in Jane, a punk-rock lesbian she keeps encountering on the subway. August was raised by her single mom, who was obsessed with the disappearance of her brother, August's uncle.

The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta

This book is the voice that you have been waiting to hear. Since it is also Black History Month, this is your prompt to go and buy this fabulous book. An exploration of a mixed-race LGBTQ+ experience in Britain, The Black Flamingo is a bold story about the power of embracing your uniqueness and finding your inner strength. Sometimes, we need to take charge, to stand up wearing pink feathers - to show ourselves to the world in bold colour.

If you haven’t read any of these titles, well I am jealous because I wish I could read them all again for the first time. Let us know in the comments which one was your favourite.
