Opium

If you’re looking for somewhere a little more quirky for your first date then head to Opium bar situated in the vaults under Pulteney Bridge. Decorated to evoke a 1920’s speakeasy atmosphere, the dimly lit corners and comfortable seating make it perfect for a relaxed first date.

Walcot House

A relatively new bar in Bath, Walcot House is an all in one venue, you can start off in the restaurant if you fancy food, then move on to the bar and club area downstairs. There are two rooms in Walcot House, one playing 80s, 90s, 00s old school hip hop and RnB, whilst the other welcomes a variety of live bands and artists on stage.

Dark Horse

A classic for first dates, the Dark Horse feels as if it was made for getting to know people over sophisticated cocktails. Similar to Opium, its interiors are an eclectic mix of different styles and the moody lighting creates a romantic atmosphere. The cocktails are some of the best you’ll find in Bath offering a variety of seasonal cocktails with ingredients you probably haven’t heard of before.

Corkage

Corkage should be high on your list regardless of whether you’re on a date or not. Aside from the impressive list of international wines, what really makes this bar stand out is the unpretentious atmosphere and great service, the staff are attentive yet not overbearing. If your date is a foodie then Corkage offers a unique selection of delicious small dishes, save space for the coconut rice pudding with cardamom ice cream!
